Jakarta - Held at the Washington Convention Center in the United States, the global satellite industry's annual showcase ran from 9-12 March 2020. The event drew every major player across space segment and ground segment, including military satellite providers.
The exhibition opened on day one with a keynote by Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and the well-known electric car maker Tesla. In his address he expressed optimism about the satellite industry, particularly Low Earth Orbit (LEO) - a technology widely believed to be the next big step for a satellite business long constrained by market demand for high throughput and low latency. Interestingly, the TRG Satellite team's tickets covered the exhibition only, not the opening session, but the team successfully negotiated entry to the opening and Musk's much-anticipated keynote.
The TRG Satellite team also held several important meetings, one of them with Japan Satellite (JSAT). That meeting was a milestone in itself, as JSAT was looking for an Indonesian partner to build teleport and satellite gateway infrastructure in Batam during 2020. In principle, JSAT and TRG have identified a mutually beneficial form of cooperation to build together. May every effort of the TRG Satellite team come to fruition with the full support of management and all TRG employees.
